 A group home is a place where a group of teenagers live under the constant supervision of adult staff members. They are a non secure facility where these teens live and receive different services to help them overcome their problems. These group homes put emphasis on family living; they also try to create an atmosphere that is similar to being at home. Most of the teens that are in a group home have been ordered to go there by a court system. But this is not true for all teens that find themselves in a group home. Some of these children have been abused and neglected by their parents or guardian and may have been put there by the states social services.

 There is at least one group home of this nature in every state, and many have several located in the most populated counties of the state. Many of these homes have been opened by converting an apartment building, or an abundant school into a group home. Sometime regular homes are converted into a group home for troubled teens. A group home can be made from most any unused or abundant building. Some states where ranch style living is a way of live; you can find ranch homes that have been converted into a group home. These homes have many outdoor activities, including horseback riding. Other states offer group homes that are located in the wilderness and teach your teen survival techniques, by teaching them how to survive in the wilderness by working together as a team.

Most of the teenagers that have stayed in a group home for troubled teens have a better sense of direction when they leave these schools. They have begun to change their life for the better and most want to continue that trend. They will be more careful who they hang out with and listen to in the future. They have a chance to live long productive lives.
